FTI Consulting is a global business advisory firm specializing in restructuring and forensic accounting. Its advisory services are divided into five main practice areas - Corporate Finance, Economic Consulting, Forensic and Litigation Consulting, Technology and Strategic Communications. Headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, FTI employs more than 3,700 professionals worldwide. Notable engagements over the last few years include the Lehman Brothers, General Motors and Madoff investment scandal bankruptcies. As of September 2011, FTI had the largest restructuring business in the U.S..[4] In 2009, FTI was listed as one of the 100 fastest growing U.S. companies.[5]

FTI added over 1,000 employees to its Forensic and Litigation ("FLC") division since the passing of the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which excluded auditors from providing consulting work to their public clients.[6] FTI purchased PwC's U.S. Business Recovery Services Division ("BRS") in 2002, which at the time was the largest provider of bankruptcy, turnaround and business restructuring services in the United States.[7] Another notable acquisition included the purchase of KPMG's Dispute Advisory Services in 2003.[8]
FTI purchased Chicago-based Compass Lexecon in 2006. As of October 2011, the company still maintains the Compass Lexecon name.
FTI expanded its presence in the communications consulting industry with its 2009 acquisition of London based Financial Dynamics ("FD").[9] FD is now referred to as the Strategic Communications Division of FTI.
FTI acquired Ringtail Solutions Group in 2005.[10] Ringtail's signature product, the Ringtail Discovery Software Suite, provides e-discovery and document management tools to assist consultants and law firms during litigation engagements.
FTI's quarterly-written journal, "The FTI Journal", has won numerous awards for its thought leadership publications. Launched in 2010, the FTI Journal was the consulting industry's first publication to become available on Apple Inc's iPad.[11] The journal highlights the expertise and shared experiences of senior professionals in various industries, with a specific focus on transformational business events.
